Illness before and during the congress reduced the size of this section, which caused pairing problems in the late rounds when the only players not to have claimed a ½ point bye or given a full point one were all in contention for prizes. By the end, John Day was the only unbeaten player, but his two draws enabled Andy Stott to grab a share of the spoils.
