A no-show reduced the entry to nine for the U100. They all got well stuck in, their being no miniatures even if in some cases material deficits arose early.

Dominic dominated throughout, dropping just a half-point, and Thivyaa recovered well from a second round defeat at his hands to chase him home in second place. Carl had to withdraw for circumstances genuinely beyond his control. New 'kid' on the block, Edward Day (U3A) became happier with the novel experience of playing with a clock as the congress progressed, whilst Fraser Greenroyd who survived a 24 hour charity chess marathon with Matthew Carr chalked up a competitive win.
