Juniors have white on odds against the adults

A healthy fifteen people contested the U100 section. The mix of six juniors and nine adults meant there enough juniors that they felt comfortable, but not so many that the adults felt swamped. With Daniel Holland and Derek Whitehurst respectively defeating Derrick Jones and Stuart Green in round one it was immediately obvious that anyone relying on a superior grade for a good congress would come unstuck.
By the end of the first day's play Jacob Boswell led the way with a perfect 3, followed by Carl Mustafa, Richard Martin and Arthur Banks on an equally perfect 2½ given their half point byes.
Thoughts that Sunday would see this quartet creeping towards the finishing line with draws were rapidly dispelled. In the morning Richard and Carl beat Jacob and Arthur respectively to leave a showdown in which Richard slowly squeezed Carl's chances to nothing.

With Jacob Boswell getting a place prize, the junior prize was up for grabs by a lower placed player, and Jacob Cartlidge secured it on a split tie from Jack Healings. Daniel Holland secured the kangaroo prize for the best score on Sunday by a player entering the day on at most 1 point.
