In 1987 teams in the separate Premier league were labelled A, so that first division tems became B even if they consisted of the same players. Consequently for clubs with a Premier league team, their other teams were labelled one lower than normal. I have given the lettering they would have had in other years in brackets.
In season 2006/7 Division 2 became limited to teams with a maximum average grade of 130. This was increased to 145 for 2009/10 in line with changes to the grading system.
